Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
As this time wears on, I hope that you are faring as well as possible. Please continue to be in touch with me if you need anything during this time without power. You can also join the conversation in our Parishioner Facebook group. We are here to help.
The lack of power is going to force us to move some things around in the coming days. It looks like it may be some days yet before power is restored to most of us, so I write with some updates to our life.
First, we had a Parish Update scheduled for this Sunday at 11:30am. I'm going to postpone that conversation as too many of us won't be able to participate. We will have a Parish Update on September 13th at 11:30am.
Second, we won't be able to have Coffee Hour on Monday. This was going to be our last Coffee Hour of the summer - and I'm sorry to miss it! Coffee Hour will return in September in a slightly different form, so keep your eye out for that.
Our first conversation about Waking Up White is tentatively scheduled for 7pm on Tuesday night (8/11). We all expect to have power back by then - so hold that date and join us for this conversation.
We will be able to worship online on Sunday morning. So save some of your charge and join us for worship. It might look a little different than usual - but as always, this community pulls together and rises to the occasion. Even without power in many of our homes, God will be praised and glorified.
This week, in Matthew's Gospel, we hear the story of Jesus coming to the disciples in the midst of a storm. They're out on the water and they're afraid. And Jesus comes to them, walking on the water. A fitting storm story for the week we're all having. So join us at 10:00am on Sunday morning on Facebook or on our website. You can download the bulletin here or on our website above the livestream window.
Please take a look at the rest of this e-news. Even in August, in the midst of a pandemic, a few days after a tropical storm, there are a lot of ways to connect to St. Matt's and to be part of God's work in the world! Thank you for all that you do to support our life together and to be part of this work. I am always moved by the generosity of this community and by the ways you step in to help.
You are all in my prayers as we make our way through this time. If we can help, please don't hesitate to be in touch. God bless you and keep you.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
