Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
This has been a difficult week for many of you, and I'm sorry. Please know that you continue to be in my prayers. I know the power outage has made an already stressful situation worse - and that some of you are still without power. Please continue to be in touch and let me know if you need anything. We are here to help. And folks are willing to share what they have, including their homes and their showers - from a safe distance - if you are still in need. As always, I'm moved by the generosity of this community. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and wants to help.
Tonight, we'll have our first conversation about the book Waking Up White. Join us at 7pm in a Zoom room (link and information below). Shifting these conversations due to the power outage has caused a little scheduling quandary, but I'm hoping to be able to share the rest of the dates with you tonight and then we'll publish them firmly. I hope you'll come and participate in this conversation.
Our pace as a parish will slow a bit for the rest of this month as we begin to gear up for the fall. I hope that you'll also find some space for peace and reflection. Please let me know if there's anything the staff and I can do to help you or your family as you prepare for school to start and for the change in season as we continue to make our way through this pandemic. If you need help, or if you just need to talk, please don't hesitate to be in touch.
I miss you. And I miss our life together in-person, the way it was in February of this year, more than I can say. And I'm still tremendously glad to be on this road with you, sharing this work with you. I'm always grateful for the ways you support each other, care for our wider community in Wilton, and use the gifts you've been given to enrich our life together. This week has certainly been a reminder of what a special place this parish is and what a wonderful community we are a part of in town. Those are very good things to be thankful for.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
