Dear friends and members of St. Matthew's,
It is my great pleasure to share with you the good news that Irina Georgieva has accepted the call to serve as our next Director of Music Ministries! Irina brings us a wealth of gifts and experience, a deep love of choral conducting and congregational song, and a kind spirit. She will honor our tradition of fine Anglican music and will help us explore new directions. During the interview process, she met with a whole host of people, including our Wardens and our Choir. All who met her agreed that she would make a wonderful addition to our music ministries and to our community as a whole. I have no doubt that she will carry on and grow this key part of our life together, helping us to sing a joyful song to the Lord in new and wonderful ways. Irina's time with us will begin on August 1st. Since we'll be worshipping with WPC and at WPC the first two weeks in August, you won't see her at the bench right away. She'll be hard at work, though, planning for the fall and for Christmas - in fact, she already is! I give thanks for her excitement to join us and for the energy she brings to this work as we begin a new chapter together. You can read more about Irina below. And we will plan to celebrate her and welcome her properly in September after everyone has returned from their travels.
We have a great many things to look forward to this year! I look forward to all of you having a chance to get to know Irina and to the ministry we will share. I hope this is just one more piece of news that makes you excited for the fall and for all that is ahead of us. I can't wait!
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
