The fall begins!

Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
You have all been in my prayers as we begin this new year. This time of year is usually my favorite. I love when the weather starts to chill (just a little - not too much!), kids start to go back to school, and new things begin in our life together at St. Matt's. There's an excitement to this turn of season that is contagious, no matter where we are in our lives. And it's always been a favorite of mine.
This year is a bit different for all of us. While there is still excitement about school, new rhythms of work, new ideas and opportunities, there is also this year a larger dose of tension and anxiety. For many of us, these last six months have been so challenging and the season ahead represents more to balance, more challenges, more concerns. Wherever you are in this moment, if you're excited for the season ahead or experiencing a little anxiety and trepidation, we are here for you. If you need help, or support, send me a note.
Over the next few weeks, we'll begin to roll out plans for the first half of this program year. There will be opportunities for kids of all ages to connect and refresh, there will be new opportunities for worship and music, and a calendar full of ways to engage for adults - whether you're looking for a night of family fun or a serious dive into your faith formation. And there will be opportunities for prayer, reflection, and space. Wherever you are, however you're feeling, I hope you'll let us journey with you through these next few months.
We can't predict yet what this year will look like. Like our local government, our schools, and everyone else in positions of trust - we will continue to make our way through this time one week at a time, making the next safest decision we can. I look forward to telling you more about that and more about the year we've planned at our Parish Update on September 13th at 11:30am.
Join us in this new season as we continue to worship and serve God together. There is so much ahead of us. And I'm so looking forward to sharing this journey with you. Over the next few weeks, we'll roll out several new pieces and programs for the months ahead, so take a careful look at this e-news and at the next few editions so you don't miss out on any of the fun!
If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to be in touch. God loves you, and so do I.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
