This week in Church School our young scholars take a break from learning lessons from scripture and practice living out those lessons by making something for the Give-A-Smile bags.
Twice a year each church school class makes 20 of a particular item to be given to 10 members of each congregation. They are given to people as a way of celebrating something or as a way of supporting members who might be hurting. This is a well-loved tradition in both congregations and it reminds us all of our connections to each other.
Ask your kids after church on Sunday what they made, and talk to them about ways they can contribute to the needs of the people around them. Small acts of love and kindness can change the world - and this is what we're called to as Christians.
