Advent II
Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week and that you've returned from your travels safely. If you weren't with us on Sunday, the church is now decked out in blue as we've entered the season of Advent. In my sermon on Sunday, I shared my hope that this will be a season of refreshment for us all, a season of hope and renewal. Despite how busy it is for so many this time of year, I hope that you will make space to join us on Sundays and throughout the week, and that in doing so you will be able to take a deep breath, to feel God near to you, to experience the love of community all around you.
We have a busy few weeks ahead in Advent! This week, on the Second Sunday in Advent, we'll gather early before church for pancakes & to make Christingles. Don't worry if you don't know what they are - or if you've never made them before. Samantha is ready to walk you and your family/friends through it. It's a wonderful, sweet, festive tradition. And we'd love to feed you pancakes and breakfast at the same time to thank you for your pledges to St. Matt's for the year ahead. If you haven't had a chance yet, please fill out a card online or bring your pledge card to church with you on Sunday as we ask for God's blessing on these and all our gifts.
Please take a careful look through the e-news this week to make sure you're not missing anything! We have a few service and holiday giving opportunities, an Advent Gospel series that takes place after church each week (with a special edition on 12/11 - read on to learn more about that!). A chance to bring your kids in to sing with Andrew on 12/10. A pageant coming up on 12/18. And so much more. It's a glorious time of year for us to be together at St. Matt's. I hope to see you on Sunday.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
