Volunteer Opportunities
OPPORTUNITIES WITH OUR OUTREACH PARTNER AGENCIES
CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY ACTION (CCA) - updated OCTOBER 2012
CCA is in need of two or three people to maintain their housewares department. This would be a wonderful opportunity for a few friends to get together a few mornings each month to help out our friends in need. CCA receives many houseware donations, they just need someone to help sort through and organize it!
Another option at CCA is helping the process of registering client families for their holiday gift program. Each parent gets interviewed so gifts can be precisely bought for their children. This project will run through October 31st and would love some volunteers to help with this process.

ELDER HOUSE
We are looking for 6-10 mothers or fathers and children ages 4-10 to interact with the 35 residents of Elderhouse for an hour of coloring &/or crafts on a Tuesday OR a Friday from 11-noon. There is nothing more uplifting to the elderly than the joy and spontaneity of our young. Even a few moments can work wonders for their spirits.
Another way to reach out is to share your musical gifts at Elderhouse. Please let Char know if you would be willing to share your instrumental talents for an hour at Elderhouse.
Elderhouse Adult Day Care is a private not for profit agency. Partial funding is provided by the United Way and the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging. Many of its residents are state assisted and whatever the community does to help goes a long way. Elderhouse cares for older adults with age related disabilities and chronic illnesses including Alzheimer’s, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, dementia, elderly depression, heart disease, Parkinson’s, stroke and vascular diseases. Clientele need constant daily supervision and medical monitoring and Elderhouse provides a way they may remain at home with caregivers and be cared for during the day while the family has to be away at work. Please consider being a part of this very rewarding outreach. Contact Char Griffin 203-210-7822 if you are interested in volunteering.

St John's Episcopal Church Saturdays' Lunch Program
Here is a a new opportunity to be part of the "St Matthew's Lunch Bunch" who are hoping to provide and serve lunch at St. John's Episcopal Church in Bridgeport. St. John's offers ESL classes on Saturday mornings, followed by a Spanish-spoken Eucharist which ends with lunch provided by various churches and community groups twice a month. St. Matthew's Lunch Bunch made its inaugral debut on Saturday, May 28th and would like to turn this inaugral ministry into a more permanent activity. Please contact Jen Kepner at jenkepner@optonline.net or at 203-563-9091 for more information.
